There are finally some really good utilities coming out for EVE on the Mac. One of them is a widget that runs on the dashboard and can even be run on the iPhone. Here is a picture of what it looks like in action, and the widget can be downloaded from the EVE Online forums.
There also seems to be a program in the works that will emulate all the things that EVEMon does, but it will be completely Cocoa based. The program is called Skill Monitor Cocoa. It still needs a lot of work, but the screenshots look very promising and it is somewhat functional albeit a little buggy at times.
I’ve been very impressed with the new PMetrics/Clicky for quite a while now. I just downloaded the latest WordPress plugin from them though and it rocks. Not only does it prevent me from having to input the javascript code manually onto my template pages for tracking, but now it lets me see my basic stats right on the dashboard, but it makes a new tab to see more detailed stats. Now I don’t even need to leave my site to check my stats. If you want to check it out, please follow my affiliate link to sign up at PMetrics here.
I just got into the alpha for Things today. It looks very nice, but I have already set up a bunch of stuff in OmniFocus. I also recently downloaded Anxiety. With the combined power of OmniFocus and Anxiety, Things will have to be pretty impressive to compete. I know Things isn’t feature complete, but I really hope they get the iCal syncing soon so that it can work with Anxiety. Or possibly even better if it could minimize to the tray somehow and have a small box similar to Anxiety. The GTD app space is really heating up and the quality of apps coming out is quite amazing.
It’s about time. Thanks to The Unofficial Apple Weblog and the new Massively.com I have heard news that I’ve been waiting months for. EVE Online is finally being ported to the Mac. I really hope that many Mac users will at least try the game. Personally I think it is much better than the only other MMO for Mac, WOW. At the same time though, the game is very very different. You can see why I personally like it on my blog here.

So I have seen a couple people on other blogs that took this science quiz and decided to take it for myself. It has been quite a while since I took a science course but I used to be pretty decent with it. Here are my results which I am actually rather proud of.
I have been trying out all the various web analytics programs for a while. Google Analytics has some very robust features, but I don’t like the interface for it. For me it gives way to much information and it seems like it is kind of a pain to access the information that I do want.
I also recently started using the ShortStat plug-in for WordPress. It is very easy to use and get to since all I had to do was install the plug-in on my blog. But the numbers it gives seem a bit unrealistic to me and it doesn’t seem like it is really actively being developed anymore.
I have heard amazing things about Mint, but I don’t have the traffic to justify spending money on it yet.
Then I found Clicky. I figured I would give it a try because I liked the screenshots on the home page. After I signed up, I copied a bit of code to my WordPress template and waited a couple of days. After that I went and logged into Clicky and the interface is very nice. The numbers it gives me seem very reasonable and I like all the information it gives me about each unique visitor. Some of the information it tells me about each visitor is the location of their IP address, browser and operating system, how many actions and how much time they spent on the site and how they got there.
The paid version of Clicky is very reasonably priced, though I don’t need it yet. When you pay for Clicky you get Spy which is real time analytics of your website and you can basically see what users are doing right at any given moment. You also get and RSS feed so you can see your stats through your favorite feed reader however often you set it to update.
So if you are in the market for free web analytics, I highly recommend Clicky for it’s ease of use and great features. I used to use Performancing Metrics before they were sold to another company, it appears as though Performancing has teamed up with Clicky to offer pMetrics. I am most likely going to see if I can move my account over to pMetrics because they are offering 12 months of free premium access for the first 100 people to review it. So I would recommend signing up with pMetrics and writing a review. The community around Performancing has always been great.
Update: Just changed my metrics over to pMetrics because I really like the community around it and the fact that I will be getting a free year of premium service for this review. I really do highly recommend pMetrics.
I decided to mess around a little bit with Dapper.net which can basically take any page that has dynamic content and turn it into a feed. It was actually pretty east to use and it guides you through a step by step process for whatever you want to do. Dapper can even easily create an embeddable widget to put on your Myspace or Blog Sidebar.
I like to see Musician’s Friend Stupid Deal of the Day because they sometimes have very good deals on mics or mixers or various other audio equipment that could be used to podcast and such. I don’t like having to visit the website everyday just to see what the new deal is so I decided to try Dapper.net’s RSS functionality.
You can see the Feed by going to the Stupid Deal of the Day service that I created on dapper. If you like the Stupid Deals of the Day, then subscribe to the service with your favorite News Aggregator. If you have any tips or other uses for Dapper please let me know in the comments.
I was looking at the Blogger Choice Awards today and I noticed something very wrong. Rosie O’Donnell has the most votes for best celebrity blogger. If anyone out there can hear me, please vote for someone else, like Wil Wheaton. I really don’t like Rosie O’Donnell, obviously, but she is entitled to her opinion. I really don’t see how she could have over 1000 votes and the closest celebrity blogger to her has less than half. I think more people just need to go there and vote.
Update: Ah the power of the nerd force. Wil has now taken a commanding lead thanks to Fark picking up the vote. I knew I wouldn’t be alone in my efforts.
I just wanted to wish two very good friends of mine congratulations on their wedding. I wish them many years of happiness. Here is a link to the pictures a friend and I took as well as a video.
